431 Sold Mahogany Bureau - James Hicks Dublin - Circa 1920

This is wonderful piece of Dublin made furniture by The famed Hicks Company based on Pembroke Street in the city. Hicks were renowned for the use of exotic woods, astounding marquetry and a profound interest with Chippendale, Adams and Sheraton styles, James Hicks opened his workshop in 1894. Worldwide royal patronage followed and the firm won many famous commissions and accolades. The stunning well figured Mahogany front opens to reveal a fitted interior consisting of drawers and letter compartments. The bureau has two small drawers and three long drawers all cockbeeded with original brass handles and raised on original stand.
